In the month of October, the morning classes experimented with different watercolor techniques (bleeding, stamping, sponging) and chose the most interesting from the resulting paintings to create a final project using mixed media.
The afternoon groups were asked to create drawings inspired by Mayan artifacts and photos of Guatemalan people, places and animals. The students were then encouraged to select the medium most appropriate to the vision they had for their work.
While initially apprehensive to have several students working with different (messy!) materials at the same time, I was thrilled by their creativity and hard-work. As you can see, this resulted in beautiful, creative and inspired final pieces.
